OL Istria – a true gem of Croatian olive growing
The Porec olive was born and nurtured under the Istrian sun, soaking in all the riches of the soil and the climate for centuries, repaying us selflessly with top quality oil which makes every meal better with its rich taste and scent. Currently Agrolaguna possesses 65 000 olive trees on 220 ha yielding up to 130 tons of extra virgin olive oil. All the olives are processed in our own oil refinery by application of modern agro-techniques and technology (cold process of retrieving oil from the olives within 8 hours, stored in inox barrels).
Agrolaguna extra virgin olive oil has been a synonym and quality standard for all Istrian olive oils, with numerous awards won year after year as a proof. Cold processing of olives we grow in our own olive groves gives us the extra virgin olive oil, each drop representing a merger of long tradition and modern agro-techniques and production technology.
An absolute current trend in live oil production are quality oil varieties. Just like wine, oil too can be produced as a single variety or a mixture of several ones. Special attention is to be paid to particular characteristics of variety and we have to use our imagination and knowledge in order to blend them with particular dishes. The Ol Istria brand name contains varieties of Picholine, Pendolino, Ascolana, Leccino, the autochthonous Istrian white oil, as well as extra vergin olive oil produced by selection of several varieties of top quality olives.
